    I like to think my attention span is longer than 8 seconds (it depends on the day), but I have always been a sucker for a good story! As a reader and a consumer of media, my initial impression is key. I do pick up a book because it has a good title, and I will look for other ways to engage with the story, its author, and its fans.

    Or, to offer a marketing-related example, I have often clicked on an intriguing Facebook post to find it’s part of a larger narrative. Oreo’s 100 Days campaign was a case of that: liking the Oreo brand page seemed like just asking for constant Oreo cravings. But I saw one of the posts in the campaign and thought it was super creative, so I liked the page to keep up with the “story.”

    And yes, a few Oreo cravings have ensued. Good strategy!
